Fresh Start is a transitional shelter for women experiencing homelessness, founded in 1991. All women who are homeless are welcome. Women self-identify and actively work on their goals while in our safe and secure home.

Fresh Start provides all they need: safe housing, food, clothing, laundry facilities, telephone and computers. The home has a capacity of 24 women at a time and they can stay for up to a year. There are 12 bedrooms and rest of the home is communal space that residents share.

Fresh Start is an important part of the safety net for Nebraskan women who want to make Lincoln their home. Because of your support, 7,706 nights of safe housing, 23,118 meals, and countless hours of advocacy and assistance were provided in 2018. More importantly, because of you, 70 women regained their lives, became economically stable and are now productive members in society.
